Hey everyone, I have not officially started homeschooling, I am a newbie.....I have a 3 yr old and 2 yr old. My husband is really concerned about becoming a one income family and I am not. I really feel like if this be Gods will for our family he will provide. I am more concerned about narrowing down a ciriculum and going with it. I have so many overwhelming concerns about finances and chosing what is right for my children, I wonder if anyone has any thoughts or tips to help with the knots in my stomach. Please help

Welcome! Sounds like the typical one income homeschooling family concerns. We've been through the gammut of those ourselves. My husband worries about finances, I worry about choosing things that won't add to his worry! :) I will say though, that somehow, we've always made it, of course that 'somehow' is the Grace of God!
Welcome and enjoy the links Annie provided!

Welcome. The best advice I've had (and I got it here) was to write up your goals, what you specifically want to teach at this age level, and think about how you want to implement that BEFORE you start picking your resources. It really helps to keep you from wasting money.

I agree - this is really very good advice. And truthfully you probably need less than you think. In fact less is more in my opinion because too much curriculum can be overwhelming.

Just a few one-income thoughts:
It is really a life-style decision just like openness to life and homeschooling. It takes some research and then a real commitment.
As a couple, you decide what you need to live. Most folks think they "need" cable tv, nice cars, new clothes, vacations, nights out, etc. When you prioritize your needs, the bottom line of what you need to live gets much smaller.
It isn't easy, but it isn't as hard as the world tells us. And your kids are little, you can start now instilling in them the value of family over stuff. You can take your time researching homeschooling and implementing little things without spending much at all. What an exciting time for you!
God bless you on your new journey!

The great thing is that you've got plenty of time to look around at what's available, read, talk to people. I was in at the deep end because we took dd out of school without having planned anything, particularly. But we dotted around with a few different things for a while before providentially coming across talk of Charlotte Mason -- then we were set.
Don't worry about it -- either the curriculum or the finances. If it's right for your family, it will all work out. And as others have said, what's regarded as 'essential' often really isn't. And actually not being bound by all those things is really liberating
All the best.
