Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

The 15 children thread has me thinking, who here on the board has more than nine children?

I'd love to know

I chose nine because nine/ten is my definition of large My familygrowing up was eight, we weren't large

Lisa,
Based on questions from yourself, Nina and Martha who ALL have eight obviously Sherry is in another field all together.    So I was wondering how many other
'Sherry's' we have?

Then again yours are so close together which is another 'field' again Congratulations on your new baby (been meaning to say that) Exciting news

We are blessed with 10 children here.

My sixth was born when my first was 7 and-a-half.

Number 7 and 8 were against medical advice. Number 7 want fine but #8 was a different story and after many surgeries and a month in the hospital things got back to normal.

Number 9 want smoothly so we thought why not #10(who is now 10 months old) following her I hemmoraged and than ended up with a pulmanary embolism. I was back in the hospital for another week.

I share this to so that God has been with us through it all, and no matter what happens we are still smiling and praising God for all his blessing and all the help he has given us.

We especially thank God for the fact that all our children are perfect and healthly and a wonderful example of God's goodness and greatness.

I've lost two (and WAS due in May) and I still have time in that I'm 38.

But boy, I don't have as much time as....LISA!!!    That girl will be the one on the board to end up with as many as Sherry. (God willing!) How beautiful you fertile women are!

It's so ironic with the discussion of the mothers'/ relatives' negative reactions because my 13 year-old son said to me sadly two days ago, "What's UP!!!??? Why hasn't God sent you another baby yet?!"        From the mouth of babes....if only he knew!

My kids are always praying for more babies. They talk about the new baby's name and if it will be a boy or a . (we are not expecting at this time) They just assume every year and half or two years there will be a new brother or sister.

I always feel that these children will be able to face the world with a very pro-life, pro-family, pro-baby attitude for the rest of their lives, God willing

We have 10! It's hard to believe, considering my husband always told his parents he was never going to get married or have any children! Obviously God had another plan for him! I always wanted a large family. With each baby I seem to enjoy them more and more. Wish I could have been more relaxed with the first ones as I am now with the tenth! I would love to have more, but wonder if this is my last. I am 43. The last two pregnancies have been hard on me physically.

I don't know about other's in my similiar shoes, but for me the worry has gone past "how many" to "what now?!"

I worry rather too much about making sure I make the most of things in the here and now. My oldest is 12. It is a daily shock to my system that I'm quickly going to be the mother of a teen. Which means I'm quickly going to be the mother of a child who is a man who doesn't sit at my table for every meal or sleep under my shelter anymore.

The key words are QUICKLY. I feel like I'm in a race against the clock.

tick, tick, do they know their prayers? tick, tick, have we taught them the value of suffering? tick, tick, does he have any clue how much we worry for him? tick, tick, have we nutured the talents he needs for a happy future, tick, tick, have we rooted his faith deep enough? tick, tick, ... I keep wanting to scream for a time-out.

Yesterday I spoke to a friend I haven't seen in a awhile and she asked if we were at 7 and holding. I told her well, fertility has not returned yet, so for now, yes. But I so want to conceive again soon! For some reason I feel like I really really want to have 8, maybe because I feel the gap of the one I lost before my Agnes came along. But then of course, I will not be satisfied and insist to the good Lord that I really should have 9. Then of course 10 is such a lovely even number...so is 12. I will turn 35 in December..we'll see. We have plenty of room in our van.

And Maria, the kids insist we at least get to 10 so we can match the Cunninghams.

We have eleven. All pregnancies and deliveries were uncomplicated. The last eight were born at home with dh as the midwife (shall I call him midhusband ).
We are praying for more, buuuut I am 48 and dh will be 54 next month! I had my last at 43 (he was born in May and I turned 44 in September).

Louise, I am so edified to hear that many of yours have been born at home. Many have been trying to scare me out of a homebirth because of how many I have had so close together. All pregnancies and deliveries have been free of complications for me also, 7 of the 8 born at home.

We're nowhere near 9, and kinda holding at 5 without room in the minivan for even discussion of any more, but my kids apparently very much assume we will one day be there...

My Luke (age 7) to Dh (when I'm just 6 weeks postpartum):
"Dad, you know we're goona need a bigger van for the next 3 or 4 babies."

I thought dh was goona keel over
...just thought it might give someone else a laugh...

My kids are noticing that, too! Our oldest daughter has been talking about how we'll need a bigger car before we have another baby!

May I ask how you fit 5 kids into a minivan? We have a 7-passenger minivan and I don't think we could fit another car seat in there. My oldest is still in a booster and will have to keep riding in it for another year or so. But even then, I think she would be kinda squashed sitting in the back seat between two other car seats! We have a passenger side airbag in the front seat, so she couldn't sit there, either...

Dawn

We have ten. But our tenth is our prayer warrior in heaver since we lost him at nine days old due to complications from a cord accident.    But when anyone asks "how many?" I always say 10. That's not counting our two babies lost thru m/c.
I would love another one. It hasn't happened and probably won't but we'd be thrilled!

We fit 6 dc in a Ford Winstar, by buying a third row bench seat from an auto recycler and then putting it where the second row should go! It worked well with littles, and booster/carseats. Sometimes necessity is the mother of invention.

Blessings,

My kids say the same thing. I do hope we have time for one more, but that would only give us nine. The Cunninghams have 10--I've been chasing Maria since Michael was three or four and wondered why Billy had "so many" sisters and he only had one brother. So many...Maria had four children at the time...
