I need something bigger than my 9x13 for casseroles, lasagna's etc...

I like my Anchor-Hocking because it's glass and while I don't use the microwave often, I can if I have too. But I haven't anything bigger than 9x13.

Marmee Dear carries a bigger stainless steel one, I may try that. Any recommendations? Thanks!

I have found this to be feast or famine.
Either I can't find anything or I stumble across something perfect in an out of the way situation and need to snap it up right then.
There's the very inexpensive enamle wear that all the discount stores like Wally world carry.
I have a really big roaster and stock pot out of that.
The only way I've been able to find anything to suit are large capsity needs but low budget is a resturant supply store.

I am really interested in this thread. I have had trouble finding extra large mixing bowls. Also, what about mixers? I would like to purchase a Kitchen Aide, but have only been able to find a 6 qt. Do they make them bigger? Maybe another brand. How big are the Bosch mixers?

I have a Kitchenaid mixer, and I'm pretty sure the bowl is a 6 qt. While I do enjoy having the mixer, it won't handle triple batches of most recipes. Keep that in mind, if you're looking for a high-capacity mixer.

I've noticed that Sam's Club (maybe Costco Warehouse elsewhere?) has large, restaurant-supply size kitchen gear, including bowls and baking dishes. It might be worth it to check there if you have access to a Sam's or a Costco.

I found a bigger Pyrex dish that is the right size for us currently. I will have to use 2 of them in a few years when I have several teen boys in the house

I found extra large stainless steel mixing bowls at Sam's. I have seen bigger mixers in restaurant supply stores, but they were way out of my price range. I have a Dimension 2000 mixer, which I do not recommend, and an old Oster Kitchen Center, which I love, but the mixing bowl isn't very big. A lot of the time I just use my hand-held mixer when doing anything other than bread.

Blessings,

I am not sure how to quote a post yet.

Maria, what size mixing bowls would you like? If you PM me, I will give you a link for stainless steel mixing bowls of 24-32 cups.

Whenever I am looking for really big bowls, trays, etc. I always check out a restaurant supply store. I am lucky to have 2 within 45 minutes of the house, and a lot of their equipment is used, so the price is right!

I have a Bosch universal mixer and I think it is GREAT. It definitely fits triple batches of things. And I've been able to make several loaves of bread at once, although I haven't quite mastered getting their recipe to rise right (I'm sure it's because I am not using the dough condition and gluten -- I want to find my way with the basic ingredients). In any case, I cook for 9 people, five of them adults, and this has been able to hold everything I wanted it to so far. I have only been trying baking things with it, though (cookies, bread, pizza dough, muffins, etc) and I did just get it, so I haven't experimented with a lot other than these bread-type things.

As for larger mixing bowls, If I'm mixing, say, several meatloaves for the family and guests, I usually just use my 12 qt. stainless steel pot as a mixing bowl so that I can mix it all at once instead of using two bowls or only doing half at a time. There were a couple of muffin recipes that, when I tripled or quadrupled, I couldn't mix in anything but one of my big pots. Now, with the ease of the Bosch, I don't mind mixing two batches in a row because I'm doing so little work besides throwing in the ingredients. It's not a big deal to me. And if it's the same recipe twice I don't bother to rinse out the bowl before I mix the next batch.

I have not come up with any alternative to the 9x13 pan besides using two of them. I have thought about going to a restaurant supply store and seeing what they have, but i was also wondering how that would change the cooking time? Can any of you who have bigger pans like this for lasagna, casseroles, meatloaves, etc. tell me what the difference has been?

Thanks!
Maire

I have a large pan that I use for casseroles, lasagna, etc. It is like using 2 of the 9x13's. I don't change the cooking time and everything has always been fine.

For a larger-than-life baking pan, try the stainless steel chafing dish-type pans that they use in restaurant steamers--they sell them at Sam's in sets of two. I have a set and use them almost daily! (I got this idea by watching the TLC show about the Duggars)
