Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Karen E. posted this book on her blog over the weekend and I thought it looked like something my kiddos would enjoy. I put it on hold at our library and then I started thinking that there are bound to be many similar types of books (fun books that reinforce math, grammar, spelling, etc...).

I didn't see a previous thread (though I'm not very good at searching), but I was hoping that those of you who have discovered these kinds of books could share your favorites.

The orignial Eats, Shoots, and Leaves book was recommended on several threads in the past, so I was really excited to see a few weeks ago that they have the new picture book you posted. The kids have been reading it and think it is very funny (and hopefully getting the concept along with it).

Other fun books for grammar are the series on parts of speech by Brian Cleary. He also has some math books, but I haven't seen those yet.

For math the site Living Math has lots of great living literature suggestions. Some we really like are the:
Sir Cumference books
Grapes of Wrath
Elinor Pinczes books

Thank you, Mary, for the recommendations. I just put a lot on hold at our library.

Fun! I've read the "adult" book and am happy to know of this juvenile version. Other fun books we enjoy for reinforcing grammar are by Ruth Heller.

As an aside, I laughed and laughed through the original _Eats, Shoots & Leaves_. Then I gave it to my teen to read. He has always struggled with spelling and grammar. He did not find it all comical to be poked fun at for poor spelling and grammar gee, why didn't I think of that
