Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am looking for a copy of The Velveteen Rabbit that has really nice illustrations- not watery or cartoony or with a sickly looking fairy.

I love this story, but the copy I have just isn't doing it justice.

Any ideas?

I'm just a traditionalist and love the original by William Nicholson.

you can see them at Gutenberg.

I finally got around to posting a reply! I have been wanting every day to answer this, but it's been so busy here. My favorite copy of the Velveteen Rabbit of all time is The Velveteen Rabbit Or, How Toys Become Real , I had a parchment type paper copy with beautiful flowers around the edge that was just lovely when I was a little girl that my Mom and Dad gave me, and it was one of my favorite books for my Mom to read to me. Imagine my joy when we were unpacking recently from our move and I found I still have it!!!      This one has very nice, old fashioned looking pen and ink type drawings, and very nice type/font to it, too.

The other version that has just darling pictures, and the fairy is better and maybe less odd looking than the other one is The Velveteen Rabbit . The pictures are beautiful! You can see more of the pictures including the fairy Here and Here , my Mom had this copy when my younger brothers were young and it's a gem. I'll have to add it to our wishlist.

HTH!
