Tyrrannosaurus Was a Beast - Dinosaur Poems by Jack Prelutsky

Hilarious book!!! HILARIOUS!!!

If you're at all familiar with Jack Prelutsky, you will be instantly intrigued!

This is a humorous picture book covering 14 dinosaurs of the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous periods. There is *just* enough factual blurby information for this book to fit side by side more serious books on dinosaurs, yet the poetry of Jack Prelutsky will have you rolling!

Our favorite is IGUANODON (ig-WAN-o-don):
(please read this aloud with great feeling and dignity as if you are speaking to a group of fine dignitaries...)

Iguanodon, Iguanodon,
whatever made you fade,
you've traveled on, Iguanodon,
we wish you could have stayed.

Iguanodon, Iguanodon,

I am planning on doing a unit study on dinosaurs over one summer. I will definitely have to add this one to my wishlist! Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for sharing, Jen! My kids LOVE dinosaurs and I haven't tried the poetry approach with our lessons on dinosaurs. Look forward to getting this one
