Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

So I am ordering a few Easter gifts for my kids. We are just just starting out on our homeschooling journey and working to build a good/useful collection of books. So I wanted to order a Tomie book for them, but no idea where to start. So if you were to order ONE Tomie book for Easter what would it be??

(the only two we have are the Pancakes one and one about a quilt.)

Thanks!

This book was illustrated by Tomie de Paola, and for your children's ages, the meaning will be totally lost, and the text is long, but keep your eyes out for Petook by Caryll Houselander. This is out of print, and demand is high, so keep your eyes peeled.

That is his only specifically religious Easter book.

I have to admit, we enjoy his "My First..." board books for the little ones. He really focuses on family traditions in them. My First Easter would be the one for this time of year.

And then, his different books focusing on Mary and Jesus would always be good for this time of year:

Mary, Mother of Jesus. Another OOP books, but wonderful.

The Miracles of Jesus

Parables of Jesus

Tomie dePaola's Book of Bible Stories will cover Holy Week and Easter.

Petook is my favorite but as Jenn mentioned for an older than toddler/preschool age child.

Petook is one of my favorites! We don't own it so we get it from the library every Easter.

Another option would be his Easter sticker calendar. I don't own it but have heard great things about it from those who do. It comes with a booklet that tells about Easter traditions and symbols.
