Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Anna the Bookbinder

This is a good one about a little girl who helps her father in his bookbinding business. The family is waiting for a new baby to arrive, business is slow (because competitors are using glue instead of sewing books, which is faster)... lots of good lessons in this one, set at what looks like the turn of the century. I especially liked the pictures of Anna with her mother.

patience, family, new baby, books, bookbinding, Aesop

Thanks, Melinda! We all loved this book! And, by one of my favorite illustrators, Ted Rand.

It's also a good one to add to read when expecting a baby!

Aha! That is why the pictures seemed so familiar! When we read it, it did feel like sitting down with an old friend. I never thought to check the illustrator. I'm glad you liked it.
