I stumbled on this at a library sale last year, and we just finished it. What a sweet story. Mr. Crockett is the oddball on his street because he does things slowly, the old fashioned way. He sits on his stoop, feeds the birds and plants a scrawny pine tree. His motto is: "beauty is as beauty does".

There is a lot for little minds to ponder in this one.

Trees, birds, friends, Christmas, hard work, patience, singing, love

Charlotte Zolotow has been a well-liked author in our house, since my eldest daughters were 2 and 3. If you haven't read her book, Big Sister and Little Sister, you might want to do so. Thank you for the recommendation.
