I searched the forum and could not find this illustrator listed so....I get to make a picture book discovery!

Initially I was looking for Welsh tales and happened upon this book, The Mightiest Heart. I loved the illustrations so much I checked out Hans Brinker. The pictures are very detailed, the colors are amazing, and they have a magical feel to them.

Here is a quote about her talent: Laurel Long is known for her detailed illustrations rendered in oil paints. Her first picture book, The Mightiest Heart by Lynn Cullen, was awarded the Gold Medal by the Society of Illustrators. Publishers Weekly described it as a remarkable debut paintings that resemble medieval tapestries.

And she has a website that shows samples of her work on other books. Enjoy!

I found that same Hans Brinker book at the Library just a couple weeks ago. It's so beautiful, isn't it????   I just requested the Mightiest Heart from our Lib.
