One of our favorites! Lovely story, perfectly expressive illustrations and a top-notch living book and nature study combination.

Another topic covered in this book from the FIAR manual is names: She was called Little Alice, Miss Rumphius, that crazy old lady, and the lupine lady, not to mention Great Aunt Alice.
PS Do you say LU-pine or LU-pin?

Interesting! I always pronounced it LU-pine but was curious and looked it up here and listened to the pronunciation and it is LU-pin.
Could this be a regional thing?...
Love,

Well, I have always pronounced it LU-pin. I have never heard it pronounced the other way. Maybe it's a Canadian thing.
We love Miss Rumphius here. It is a yearly spring read in our family.
Blessings
