Legitimately can I get another winter/snow book in? I see lots of you are still experiencing winter! But actually this is a perfect book for the late winter/early spring snows and melting snow. This is a sweet little book. Though no longer in print I see it is easily available used and I hope through libraries (ours has it). It doesn't look like much by the cover - a kind of non-descript Scholastic book - it never became a "classic" but it is one of my favorites - probably for the happy memories of enjoyment by my oldest when he was a preschooler (I think him hitting 20 this spring is sending me into big-time nostalgia mode ).

Anyway, it's about a little girl who builds a "really good snowman" one winter. After awhile he melts down and various animals eat the foods she had used for eyes, nose, and mouth. It snows again and she rebuilds him using what is left as a starter. This happens over and over during the winter into the early spring til there isn't anything left but a small bowl of water. Sadie is sad but figures out a way to keep him so she isn't sad. It is a great book for repetition and anticipating what will happen next. I love the illustrations especially of the animals interaction with the snowmen. Oh, and did I mention I LOVE snowmen!

Thanks for the book suggestion Mary. I'm gathering materials for a snow study and this one looks like a great book that Andrew and Christopher would enjoy.
