I've just purchased a beautiful hardback picture book about the life of St Joan, here is a link to some of the beautiful illustrations in this book.
It is written by Josephine Poole and Illustrated by Angela Barrett. I highly recommend this book - unlike many Joan of Arc books, it doesn't start a modern analysis with children over Joan's voices/visions etc, etc.

I picked up this beautiful book at Half Price books! It's one of the books they purchased new - so not quite half, but still discounted. I enjoyed the story as much as the illustrations.

Oh, Anne. I love that one. It is the best version by far.
Same thing with their version of Snow White...the REAL version with the "incorruptible" Snow "dead"/sleeping in perfection....

My favourite Joan of Arc book, too.
I notice there is a book about Anne Frank by the same author and illustrator. Has anyone seen that one?

Thank you. I've been compiling lists of age-appropriate books for studying the Middle Ages/Early Renaissance and didn't have anything for the younger set for St. Joan of Arc. This sounds like it will fit the bill.

I just read this to my 6yo for the first time this week. She really liked it even though you would think the subject matter would be frightening, it was told really well. The illustrations are wonderful. We have several Angela Barrett and Josephine Poole books but this is the most beautiful of all.

We love this too. My 2 year old loves it, and our 6yo has liked it since he was 3 or 4. I just evade the actual reference to burning to death at their ages, although our son asked on the last time we read it "what are ashes?" and worked it out for himself.

Dd (8th grade) was just using both of these Joan of Arc books (along with some other resources) to write a paper. They are both such good books! The Josephine Poole one is absolutely a feast for the eyes.

This is our favorite Joan of Arc book by far.
That said, I had no idea there were others by the same author/illustrator combo. Thanks for that tip!
