Does anyone have a recommendation for an online source for used children's books? I have used the Amazon used-book option, but since each title comes from a different vendor, you end up spending 3.95 shipping on each book. I'm wondering if there is an online used book store that would combine shipping.
Thanks!

Shawna,
I always use ABE Books as I know right away what shipping is and can search the specific seller's stock to see if they have others I need.
I've also used Powell's -- which has both new and used....and they'll let you know when they receive a copy of a book you're looking for.
Biggest problem with just one source for used books is you have to be willing to hunt and wait ....
Looking forward to seeing what others suggest!

I have used Alibris but they also charge $3.99 shipping per item. However, if you order additional items from the same seller (like Mary, I search the seller's stock before I finalize my order), each add'l item is about $2 shipping.
I have also used half.com, which is owned by e-Bay, but is not an auction site. Their shipping charge is about $3.50 an item, I think.
I've also searched Get Cheap Books to compare prices on items.
There's also CathSwap, the Yahoo group for used curriculum.
Another used curriculum site is School-Curric-Swap. I don't know that I've ever actually used it, but I bookmarked it awhile back.
On the Yahoo groups, you can always post "Want to Buy" items, too, and sometimes someone who might not have thought of listing an item will contact you and sell it to you.
Unfortunately, with used stuff, I think there will always be shipping charges to contend with!

I haven't found a combined shipping option. I look for similar sellers to get a discount.
My favorite site to use is Bookfinder.com which searches all these Booksellers including ABE, Alibris. When they find a book in a search, the price includes the postage, and sometimes there's a discount code when using Bookfinder.

I've just started using Paperbackswap.com. Basically, you post books you are willing to give away, and for each one you give away, you can order one from the site in return. You pay to mail out your books, but books coming to you come free (sender pays). I sent out two requested books this week (postage was $1.31 and $2.13), and I was able to request on that I have been looking for but had been put off by the price (even used) and shipping on top of that.
This site won't have all the things you're looking for, but what a great deal (plus you can set up a wish list and be notified when something you want comes in). And- you declutter your own book stash at the same time. I wish I had started doing this earlier.
