Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I so excited about Minn of the Mississippi by Holling. All my children are loving it and begging me to read just one more chapter. I know just about every homeschooler knows about this book.

As I was reading it yesterday, I realized how fun a Mississippi River Unit would be. Next, we will read Fr. Marquette and then Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. The kids are loving this so far. My father is from Napoleonville, Louisiana. I can't wait to tell him we are doing this.

Any other suggestions? You all have such great ideas!

No ideas for you but I think this sounds like a really fun unit, especially for boys with the Twain books. I'll be watching this thread with interest as I think this would be a good idea for us for this summer.
