Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

It started innocently enough...

Now here it is a few weeks later and I have decided to make it into a unit study and try to cover each subject area.

I needed this though, I needed to get excited again and this has been just what I needed. Now if I could just get to everything else around the house that needs my attention.

Blessings,
Theresa in MN

Congratulations! The rest will be waiting for you when you find that ever elusive time -- don't worry!

Thanks Jeanette. You know a few weeks ago I got a case of the "am I doing enoughs" and the "If Only's" as I seem to get each year. I believe it came from the self imposed letter of the law I had placed on our work rather than schooling by the help of the Holy Spirit. Just another reminder to keep Matthew 6:33 before me each morning.

This seems to be the refreshing that the kids and I both need and as I find the excitement building in me, I just know it is going to inspire the kiddo's as well.

Theresa,

I 'know' you from your blog. We did a Beatrix Potter unit study in the spring. We had a glorious time reading all of those precious books. My children enjoyed their time getting to know Ms. Potter.

Enjoy your time with her.

Blessings,
Julia

Theresa this looks great. Just what my ds and I will need this spring. Of course, the way our weather is, I could start next week....

Theresa, we love Beatrix! Did you know this Friday there opens a new movie about her, Miss Potter? I did a post on it last week.

I'm not sure how old your children are, but I bought a book called The Ultimate Peter Rabbit: A Visual Guide to the World of Beatrix Potter. It is big, beautiful, and fun to look through. Lots of rabbit trails to follow ... I'd like to look at her role as a naturalist.

Theresa, what fun! I had a marvelous time doing a "Peter Rabbit trail" with my little girls several years ago. (And we still reread the books quite often.)

Have you been to the Beatrix Potter website?

Elizabeth and I put together a Beatrix Potter unit several years back. (Scroll down and look in the lefthand column for the link.)

Enjoy! We can't wait to hear all about it!

Dawn, I actually ran across your blog around the time I was doing research for the study. I was at Christy's blog (www.homeschoolblogger.com/Christy)and she had links to a "Showcase of Learning Rooms" and when I found your site and looked at your blog I felt like I had won the lottery! *smile* I enjoy checking in each day to see what you are writing.

Lissa, yes I've been to the website and I'm off to check out the other link you've provided.

I've been putting things together on my blog as I find them. This week I hope to sit down and be a bit more specific with our plans and goals for the unit.

oooh, this beatrix potter unit might just be the inspiration i need. for those of you who are sewers, or who are teaching sewing, i found an ADORABLE free bunny pattern that looks pretty simple. i havent tried it yet, but i bet an older child could do it for this unit. if you have more older kids, wouldnt it be fun to make a peter, a benjamin bunny, a flopsy, a mopsy and a cotton tail?? ok, thats getting rather ambitious. wee wonderful bunny pattern

I love the bunny pattern (and instructions)! Thanks, Monica. I plan on doing the Beatrix Potter unit right after Easter.

Cheryl,

We're doing the Beatrix Potter unit after Easter too!In fact, the boys (5yos) easter baskets will have a Beatrix Potter theme just so I can justify buying new items for our unit:) I'm so excited, are you doing the CCM version?

I think so. I think I'll look at it tonight. Are you? My m-i-l bought this Peter Rabbit book for my dc for Christmas. It was so chaotic when we opened gifts that I just put it aside for spring. I just bought this book for my dd (1 year old tomorrow), figuring we can use it and she can keep it when she's older. We're going to write notes to her in it. What do you think you'll put in the Easter baskets?

Costco has a wondeful Beatrix Potter nature journal!

Have fun Theresa, we did this a couple of years back, I even bought the games for the dc for Easter!   I may revisit it and do again thanks to your inspiration

Yes, I've printed it off and made notes as to what our library has and what I need to purchase. I think I'll be off to Target this week to see what would be good for the baskets, thanks ladies!

Also, Dover Books has some inexpensive Peter Rabbit items. We'll have to compare notes, Cheryl!

This sounds good Kelly. I started writing notes about what I'm interested in doing from the unit. There are SO many ideas! I'd love to hear what you're planning too.

I purchased the Beatrix Potter Journal today at Costco. It was about this same price. It's really beautiful and I thinks my girls will really enjoy it.
