I just finished reading this aloud for the second time to my second 7 year old. Honestly, I FORGOT how wonderful this book is. We just both utterly enjoyed it. Occasionally I would wonder, with the quite advanced English used, if my son was "getting it" throughout a few of the long descriptive chapters, but he amazed me in the way he really understood the subtle emotional dynamics that were happening in the book. I'm not doing formal school right now, and it was the perfect thing to just live in, and linger with, this book for several weeks. It seems like many of the curriculums and recommendations written recently don't include this book anymore, I can't imagine why!

Don't you just love books that are THAT good?!!!
