Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi There,
Beginning in December my then 10yr old will be studying ornithology at her little science co-op. I'd love to have a good read aloud and maybe one for her to read about birds.

We have read Burgess Bird Book and Mr. Bluebird and His Neighbors. Is there another book that would be good? I'm totally stumped and don't know where to look!! Thanks so much!!

Any other recommendations are welcome. We do have quite a few field guides about birds, but can't think of any other living books but the ones I mentioned. Thanks!!

A favorite of ours is Flute's Journey, which is about a Wood Thrush's migration each year.

Oh, another book I thought of is The Boy Who Drew Birds: A Story of John James Audubon. We read that last year and really liked it.

The Wheel on the School is a
good one.

It is a living story about the storks in a small Dutch village and the children who helped them.

If you can get any of Australian author Leslie Rees' OOP books I highly recommend them.

My two oldest daughters enjoyed Enid Blyton's Nature Lover's Book around that age. The book focuses on nature in general, but also mentions various birds and contains a field guide to "common" birds. Common is in quotes because the birds are not necessarily common to all areas.

I second Melinda's recommendation of The Wheel on the School.

Are you looking for a read-aloud that's fiction or non-fiction? How interested is she in birds?

I can ask my birder daughter what she recommends.
