I just watched this awesome interview of Jospeh Pearce on EWTN promoting his new book Bilbo's Journey.

I read the Hobbit with my oldest kids last year, which was my first time reading it! I had heard that Tolkien was Catholic and the books reflected that, but the first time I read it didn't see it all--because I was so wrapped up in the story.    

I after seeing this interview I put my copy on order (and actually a few more copies for Christmas presents) and I am excited to read it. Has anyone else read it yet???

Oh, Jen thanks for the tip on the Catholic Courses offer. I am definitely going to get that coarse after we finish read LOTR this year.

I started this thread a while back on Catholic Courses and I review the course by Joseph Pearce on The Catholicism of Shakespeare.

Professor Pearce is really speaking to me at this time in my life! As my children I and school together with CM as our leader, we reading all of these wonderful books for the first time. However, is seems as if the Catholic heritage of these books has been lost or forgotten. Thank God that Prof. Pearce is using his talents to remind the world again!!!
