Is there a way to show that a book needs to be borrowed instead of owned?

I have lots of booklists for various topics and I'm trying to figure out how to best sort them in here.

I just did a whole WW II book list for the big kids and some books were great and some not so great. I checked them all out from library and when it's time to revisit this time period again, I'd like a record of what we've already covered and what books would be good to review again and which ones to avoid. Anyone know can I do this in library thing? How do you keep track of something like this?
