Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We were reading one of the Rose Years books last night and Rose and her mother were sewing an outfit for a friends baby. They were hoping for a boy so they were making a pink gingham outfit. If it was a girl, they'd add some blue to it. I checked online and saw an article from the Ladies Home Journal in 1914 recommending pink for boys b/c it came from red which was a stronger color. Does anyone know when the switch occurred that pink was for girls and blue for boys? I thought this was an interesting little tidbit!

No, but it may explain why one of the twin boys in "Baby Island" was dressed in pink!

I don't know either, but I find this very interesting. My grandmother (92) always talks about how she put my uncle in *pink* clothing as a baby. It seemed to be the thing to do!

I guess it makes as much sense as dressing little boys in dresses as they did years ago.

In Europe they don't dress their babies in pastel pink and blue. Strong, bold colors are their preference.

I don't know when pink became a "feminine" color. Penn State Football uniforms were original Black and pink! But since the pink faded, they switched to navy and blue.

But can you imagine big burly football players in PINK?

I remember this pink for boys thing in one of Lissa's books too...I'll flag this thread for her. Nothing like an expert to clear things up quickly .
