My ds loves the Tin Tin comic books, and so I am looking for other series in the same style that are good reading....
My library has the Asterix series... sounds like they may have potential?
I posted about Chester Comix down in the history forum- asking for opinions since I have not seen those myself.
Jenn recently posted about the reprint of the Brother Juniper comics.
What else is out there?

Love, love, love TinTin and Asterix.
We got a few of the Chester comics from Williamsburg. My boys enjoy them. I think they are fine, not twaddle, but not absolutely great. It is a good way to learn history.
Another history comic series is Flashbacks by Patrick Reynolds. He has covered quite a few subjects (not all are comics on this page). Our Sunday comics carries these on the history of DC and they are very interesting.

Wanted to add that the Brother Juniper series are just one scene, light-hearted comic, similar to Family Circus.

TinTin and Asterix are favorites here too We were excited to see that Brother Juniper is available on the Nook, so they may just be our 1st Nook book purchase after Christmas
God bless,
Christine

I scoped out the library yesterday and found that mine has tons of the Asterix books, so I am very excited about that.
However, the other comic books on the shelves looked a bit scary.... very Japanese manga, which is not my favorite.
HS Buyers coop has a deal right now for Chester Comix- buy the whole series for $79 (about $2.50 a book). I'm tempted but don't know if I want/need the whole set

Has anyone read the Prince Valiant volumes that have been reprinted recently?
I picked up volume three at the library today. I have to say- it's a gorgeous book: hardcover, oversized, all color illustrations. It looks very exciting and action packed. Gets great reviews on Amazon.
I have to look at it more closely- wondering if it has "mature themes" or is OK for kids.
