Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

It has been a long time since I have read aloud to my teens. For a couple of reasons I would really like to have reading time with them. I'm certain some of you must read aloud to your teens. What do you read? In particular what do you read to your teen boys? (mine are 16 and 14).

We have not done read-alouds for a while, but here are my suggestions (some of which we have used):

Lord of the Rings Trilogy
C. S. Lewis
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (goofy spoofy science fiction, I know, but still fun!)
The Three Musketeers
The Count of Monte Cristo

I absolutely loved Count of Monte Criston as a teen, I really need to buy a copy.
Awakening sounds like a good one for Lent.
