Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Whitefoot by Wendell Berry
was such a great little book. It's the adventure of a mouse who gets swept up in a flood. It held my 5 yo and 7 yo enthralled and they were always begging for more when we stopped. It also details all the habits of mice and their environment, their predators and other animals that live nearby. It's a great little jumping off point for studying about forest animals. We were all sad that it was over.

I'm going to see if my library has this one! My 6YO would really like this, I think.

Thanks for the recommendation. My kids loved Stuart Little so I am sure they would love to read another mouse story!
