Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My dh suggested I buy a book for my niece 17 and nephew 14 but I am at a loss! Neither is a strong reader so I guess I am looking for something classic or keepsake or some type of "must have". I dont know. Any suggestions?

When I am stumped like that I usually get a nice blank book or journal. There are some really neat ones available out there that would appeal to about any taste.

For your niece, I would say one of Regina Doman's books. For your nephew, one of the Dragons in our Midst series or Ranger's Apprentice. Good luck. I find it incredibly difficult to buy books for other people's kids.

We gave The Hobbit to our teen nephew, and got him hooked.

I bought Regina Dorman's books for my daughter for an Epiphany gift. They look great!

When my little brother was a teenager, I bought him The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis, one of my favorites, and he loved it.

Well I went to Borders with my list in hand. I bought Screwtape for the boy and Mere Christianity for the girl and a nice journal for each. EVERY other book mentioned here was OUT OF STOCK. Every year, I say I will not wait until the last minute!!

Wow after I reread my last post...it reads as if I am angry at all of you. Not my intention at all! I was just amazed at how picked over everything was.
