Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm in the process (still, haha!) of setting up the workbox method. Anyone have any ideas for setting up a workbox to work on poetry memorization? I have them recite with me the poem they are working once a day, but with the 9yo especially this doesn't seem to be enough. There's copywork, of course, but I usually just have them copy a poem once for their notebooks. I was thinking of maybe setting up a poster center like described in the workbox book, having the lines of the poem typed out and cut up and laminated, then having them arrange the lines in order...but thought I'd poke around for ideas first.

I like the laminated lines idea!

Another possibility that occurs to me is a cloze-type activity where the child fills in some blanked spaces on a printed copy of the poem.   I used to do this for prayer and Scripture memorization with my children, only I'd write it on the blackboard and erase a couple of words at a time. By the time the board was blank after a few days, the children had it down.

If you put a cassette recorder/player in the box maybe the child could recite into the tape, or listen to the poem on tape.

I love that idea Willa!

Just the first thought that came to mind. What about putting the pieces onto a key ring and somehow arranging it so the learn 1st line, then second line is on next sheet but sits under first line on ring etc. So eventually you will have the entire poem visible line by line.

I'm going to try to get my hubby to make a template. If he has success I'll come back and link
