Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I miss you! I miss LA and the Book Fiesta! I will get back to it this month after my local move.

I am stalling on packing by writing to you but I have to tell you this. Often, often, often when we are at the library or a book store I will see picture books that I recognize the author/illustrator thanks to LA (from when we did a new author each week). So I've been thinking of you even if I've been out of touch.

Thank you, Cay! We loved the 2005 study and the January illustrator looks great!

Cay,
Somehow I have missed the book fiesta up till now.

What ages is it geared for? My almost ten year old daughter devours books and I have a hard time keeping up and getting her to explore them a little more closely.

Molly,
I'd say it's more appealing to children PK-3rd grade but I have had my 12 yr old ds join us in reading and exploring the various authors. He seems to have enjoyed it. He has definitely walked away with new-found knowledge.

The fiesta has covered children authors/illustrators for the past two years. This year we began with a children illustrator. It's a study in much the same way we have art studies but, instead of a picture, you're studying wonderful illustrated books and pictures made with words. It does require going to the library but I think anyone can handle going once a month.

For those who have many young ones, you can do an online search for the author/illustrator and reserve the books at your local library. Dh can pick them up on the way home or you can zip in on your way to pick up milk one evening.

If Elizabeth doesn't mind, and others would like, I can present the monthly author/illustrator here as well to keep everyone abreast.

Cay:

I personally think it's a great idea to post it here too.

(BTW, I love your tagline -- don't necessarily agree with it ALL the time -- but I do love it. A corollary for me is "just let me finish this row and then I'll stop knitting" )

It's a contradiction in terms.    But it is relative.

Thanks Cay! If you could post it here that would be great. I always forget to check out other sites, even some of my favorite resources.
