I am hoping someone (Melissa???) can help me on this one. I've sort of found the answer in the archives, but I wanted to clarify a few things:
I want to make one large purchase for all the Little House books and prequels. I have read a few in spurts here and there as I found some at garage sales - grew up with the tv show and loved it, but love reading more and want to get started with my son on the books with younger characters. But I want to get them all at once so it's done and they coordinate (see note on this below!).
1) Somewhere I read that there is one series to avoid due to some feminist issues - which one was that?
2) Where is the best place to purchase them - UNabridged of course. (The Little House website only lists 3 Martha books and 2 have the photo image on the cover, which I think means it's abridged?) I love Amazon but sometimes get confused about how they post things - any help there would be great if Amazon is the prime choice.
2a) I prefer to avoid individual sellers unless I can get all or most of teh books from them - I just want "sets" that coordinate. I am getting really picky about the books in our home! Even how their eye appeal!!! Price is obviously a consideration too, but I have to choose my battles
If I have to buy each set at a separate place, that would be do-able....
3) Since the list on Little House website isn't even complete, can someone provide a truly complete list of the books I should be looking for?
(http://www.fun-books.com/liwgen.htm#Books_about_Lauras_Fami ly: appears to have a complete list - is that one fully accurate? They list several that are out of stock, but it might be start anyway....)
Sorry for the odd-ball questions, but I know you ladies have the answers!
God bless!

I think you'll find an answer to most of your questions, along with links on where to find some of the harder-to-find books at melissawiley.com/books/
Good luck. Quite a few are already a challenge to find.melissawiley.com/books/

I started there - but am still coming up short, or overwhelmed, maybe both! I think I am just very very tired lately (January thing and my birthday is coming up next month and I just always get tired this time of year - maybe I'm hoping that pre-reading all the books will cheer me up!)

I never heard this one before.

I know that the book stores around me have the hardback Little House books. They use to have Melissa's original books but they sold out.

Because Melissa's books have been out of print, I think it will be harder to find one place that still has all of her books.
Check ebay for the sets. They might have them.

Melissa Wiley has a complete listing on her website, of all the series, not just the ones she wrote.
I found an ebay "contact" in Canada, who ships from NY, and who has great luck finding the originals, often at better prices than some of the more "known" resellers for these books...can't guarantee anything, but it's worth a shot. I just did the same thing, and completed the prequel/sequel/whole series (minus the one truly rare book, On Top of Concord Hill). She was a big help.
She also has flat-rate shipping, which is a blessing. PM me and I'll send you her email info.

Thank you ladies for your patience with my relative (mental) slowness and the information! I think my brain has been fuzzier lately than I knew. I am looking forward to ordering most of the books this evening - yay!

The Rose Years (Laura's daughter) are the ones that may have some of the more feminist attitudes.
I don't have the answer to your other questions though.
