A friend of mine asked me about this series of books. I never heard about them. Has anyone here read them? what is your impression? she is concerned because of the magic elements in the books.

I didnt like them very much because I felt they were dumbed down or watered down and just capitalizing on Harry Potter's success. However, my son liked them very much. We have room in our life for a little bit of twaddle.

They are full of silly fake magic as many of those books in that genre are. This doesnt bother me at all bc we dont acknowledge it as anything but the fiction it is. However, if you are sensitive to witchcraft in children's lit then obviously these would not be a good fit for your family.
