Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I think it was called The Whirligig House. It was about a family that had 6 kids and each one had all their things a certain color. The whirligig part was this little carved weathervane type thing that had all the kids rowing a boat.

I remember my 5th grade teacher reading it aloud to us (oh, those were the days, reas-alouds in public school!) but every time I try to google the title I start to feel like I imagined it all!

If anyone has any idea what I'm talking about I'd love to find this book!

perhaps this? Whirligig House by Anna Rose Wright

that's horribly expensive but you might get enough info to find it elsewhere or determine if it's even the right book.

Thanks, Jodie! We must have been cross posting. I guess it's a book I'll have on "the list" whenever I go to a thrift store or small-town flea market!

Nowdays, things like that are hard to find since people know what ones are valuable. The library probably doesn't even have any copies.

also estate sales.. not all of them are professionally done and you might find it that way with people that just want the "stuff" gone.

Good idea! I'm always out scouring for record albums, but this gives me something else to look for.
