Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My oldest girl read one of these before I did and after reading it for myself it seems like there is an awful lot of new age stuff in there that I am just not comfortable with. She really liked it because it was an adventure story that was totally girly! Do you have any recommendations for better books she might enjoy that fit the "Totally Girly But Still Adventure Stories" genre?

I am not familiar with the fairy realm series. Do you know anything about it?

I had no idea there were Cicely Mary Barker chapter books! We just did some of her big books and some of the stories were in there, but my daughter is now excited by the prospect of reading more of her stories.

Thanks!

I don't know the books you're speaking of so I'm really not sure what sort of "adventure books" we're speaking of.

The books that come to mind are Caddie Woodlawn and Winter Cottage by Carol Ryrie Brink

The American Girl series.. the historical ones.

While not hyper girlie The Holy Vesper stories by Llyod Alexander are great fanasty adventure for girls. Think young Indiana Jones.

will write more later, i am dashing out the door, i think the flower fairy chapter books are modern, based on the originals, but with the same illustrations. fairy realm is a sort of mystery series.
