Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I just finished this book that would make a great read-aloud .....

Blow Out the Moon is a fictionalized autobiography of Libby Koponen's shift from an American public school to a boarding school in England in 1958. The really interesting side note is that the school she goes to, Sibton Park, is a PNEU school (altho it's never mentioned in the book, the lady that recommended the book checked it out and Sibton Park was a PNEU school during the years Libby attended. Also, the descriptions in the book are very CM'ish -- lots of living books, short lessons, time in nature, etc.

It's a great story about growing up when you've been taken out of your "comfort zone" and have to adjust some of your thinking. It's also a great book about how this woman, even as an 8 year-old girl, knew she wanted to be a writer and started writing ALL THE TIME even at such a young age.

The book has great side-notes about particular things mentioned in the text -- how to make a hospital corner, who Florence Nightingale was, etc. It really is a living book!

The author also has a website -- If You Love to Read.com where she gives sample chapters and lots of fun information.....She also encourages kids to write to her and if they're interested, gives tips on becoming a writer.

Enjoy!
