Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

On the Way Home by Laura Ingalls Wilder? It's about her family taveling from South Dakota to Mansfield, Missouri. A friend gave us a copy of it lastnight. I vaguely remember having a copy as a child, but I don't remember that my home town is on page 68 and 69. Surely I would remember something like that.   My dd was SO excited. The funny thing is, with the exception of some of the buildings burning down a few years ago, the downtown area looks nearly the same.(Only no horses and buggies most of the time!) Anyway...thought that was cool.

That is a cool discovery, Jen. I have my copy that came with the Harper Trophy series I got as a child. Pages must be renumbered - there are no pictures on pp. 68-69 in my copy.

Isn't it funny how those small town downtowns don't really change?

Hmmm...I'll have to see if my mom still has the copy she had when we were kids. Chances are one of my older sisters have it.

It is funny how some things don't change.

I have it and have read it. How cool to see your home town mentioned!

Funnliy, they mention the people look shiftless, and althoughg the soil looks good, someone tells them they could't make any money, so they moved on to Missouri. We have a very transient community, so maybe it was the same back then. Anyway...it is fun for the kids to read about, adn it will be helpful with our history studies this summer!!!
