Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My children are preparing to enter a wrtiting contest about through our local library about Tall Tales. I would like to create a mini unit to prepare them to write their own tall tale. I checked out a few books containing tall tales from the libary but would love some suggestions of good tales and any other suggestions for activities to go with our little unit! Thanks! Vicki

Last year I wrote a unit for Homeschool Share on the book Apples to Oregon. It is a fun Deborah Hopkinson picture book that is told in tale tale fashion. Her book might give yo some ideas. Also one of the sections in that unit study focuses specifically on tall tales with suggestions and resources, if you are interested.

Mary, the unit you wrote looks wonderful! I've just put the book on hold at our library. Thank you for sharing it!
