Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Other than our own Trading Post (which I've been blessed by once already:) where is a good place to look for used Catholic books, either homeschool, fiction or non-fiction? There seems to be so much out there I would like to learn about but I can't pay full price to do it

Are you looking for specifically Catholic books? I find that if you use a "Catholic" source, the prices are higher.

There are search engines that really help track down used books:

Bookfinder.com
AddAll.com
There are specific used book dealers that specialize in the Catholic books, but their books for sale will come up in your searches on Bookfinder or Addall.

Half.com
ABEbooks.com Both of these you can set up wish lists and get notified of new offerings.

Ebay and Amazon also are places to search.

And find out local used book sales and bookstores. This Book Sale Finder might help. Keep a written or mental list of books, authors and publishers to find with you!

Getting used books at a bargain means you're on the hunt, don't always get them at the same time or the same condition, but it's the thrill when you find them!

Thanks, Jenn! I guess I specified "catholic" books because I know where to buy/sell used homeschool items but have not seen (at least the last time I looked) catholic items on those lists. For instance the CHC materials or the Ann Ball books. Also, since much of this is new to me, I don't even know WHAT I might be looking for, hoping that a specifically catholic list might be shed some light.

Thanks for the links, I've used half.com in the past and now you have give me other sources to check into

Be very careful buying used.. I've often found that if I have coupons and use ebates (money back on purchases) and find places that I can get free shipping (usually by saving up my purchases until I can get a large amount at once) that I can buy new for the same or less cost than used.. because used rarely has coupons, ebates, or any sort of free shipping.. and you pay shipping on each item instead of even the bit less you pay on a smaller grouping.

Sorry, Kelly, I misunderstood your original question. I can see what you are saying!

Used Book Sources. Immaculata Books I highly recommend. You can see what she lists as good ideas for Catholic books.

Keller Books is a vendor for some homeschool conferences (IHM in VA for one). Great selection that can inspire you for Catholic titles...some overpriced IMHO.

Hope that helps!

The Cathswap yahoo group is a great place, but you'll find mostly curriculum there. There are other Catholic books posted, just not as many.
