Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi everyone,

My husband's spiritual director recently recommended Leisure by Josef Pieper. When I went to price it online, I noticed Ignatius has published An Anthology, which contains excerpts from various writings of his, including Leisure. The excerpt from Leisure appears to be called "Leisure and Its Threefold Opposition." It looks to be about 6 pages long.

Would you recommend the entire work Leisure over the anthology? Have any of you read An Anthology

Here's a link to An Anthology; I thought to give it as it you can read the table of contents there: An Anthology

I'd read Abuse of Language, Abuse of Power personally, but nothing of Pieper's beyond that.

Thanks for your input!

I'd want both!
The whole of "Leisure" is well worth reading, and rereading.
But I'd love a Pieper anthology to get an idea of his general thinking, and to see what else of his is out there.

I'd want both, too. Another book I really love is his In Tune with the World: A Theory of Festivity. This was my first introduction to Pieper and I just loved it.
