Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Can someone (or lots of someones) offer some good reads both fun and serious that helps me to deepen my faith. I feel like I read a lot of fun mysteries, and some good books. But they are just 'christian' in nature. That is not bad but I would like some with plots/stories/characters/etc that really put the catholic faith in there.

Something for mom's of large families, something for a wife with a dh who's not catholic (and mostly doesn't understand it/nor wants to/yet 80% respects it), kids who struggle with why they can't....XYZ... and why God doesn't help them. I just noted these as maybe ideas for books that might be of most help for me right now.

A GREAT devotional would be really good also. Something that wouldn't take more than 5 minutes to read through and ponder. Ok that's a lot.. but I'm in a rut and need some inspiration. Thanks

Please Don't Drink the Holy Water and Bless Me Father for I have Kids by Susie Lloyd

A Miracle for St. Cecelia by Katherine Valentine (a series of books based in a small New England town).

I'd recommend the Life Teen blog for posts aimed at high schoolers. And if you wanted to be more specific about what "they can't xyz" is about I might know some resources there.

I also really like the "Surprised by Truth" books by Patrick Madrid. I love reading about why people choose to be Catholic and it really helps me to read stories that illustrate some of the teachings of the Catholic Church that are so critical to others' choice.

Maybe the Father Brown stories? Mysteries and Catholic!

You might enjoy Regina Doman's Fairy Tales series. These are written for teens, but I enjoyed them.

I don't know if they are quite what you are looking for as they are not as light of reading, but Michael O'Brien's Children of the Last Days series books are really good.

I enjoyed Something Other Than God, which I read over Christmas.

As a mom? My pick would be _Nazareth Family Spirituality: Celebrating Your Faith At Home with Catherine Doherty_.

Not too long, focused on family, lots to think about, very encouraging.

Her other books are also quite good.

The one book (of all the ones I had) that my husband picked up and read before he entered the church was _Catholism for Dummies_.   Easy to navigate and read, solidly orthodox ... it's a great source for explaining some of the dos and don'ts of Catholism.

My teen daughter also likes Scott Hahn's audio talks.

I'm going to sound like a broken record, but I have been recommending Brideshead Revisited, Kristin Lavransdatter, Middlemarch (not Catholic, but very Christian), and Five For Sorrow Ten for Joy all over the place. And now The Reed of God which I'm finishing up. I like non-fiction, but I love fiction that shows how the Catholic faith would look like in real life.

Seconding the recommendation for Regina Doman's Fairy Tale series.
