I have recently listened to (audiobooks) The Great Divorce and The Abolition of Man, and am starting on Mere Christianity. I think they are wonderful.
I also love reading St. Francis de Sales, Fulton Sheen, Lovasik, and Dubay. But I love the way Lewis combines his knowledge of classical writings, philosophy, and theology.
Is there a work by a Catholic author similar to those books mentioned above that I should be reading instead? Or should I just rest with Lewis' works as they are not anti-Catholic (at least I haven't noticed anything) and recommend them, as opposed to a similar book by a Catholic author, when I am trying to evangelize? Any other thoughts on how Lewis' books fit into a Catholic's book collection?

Lewis, though not Catholic, is responsible for a large number of people coming into the Catholic Church. He is a great recommendation for evangelization. He really was "Catholic" in his theology. There are various thoughts as to why he never actually came into the Church, though he was very much in line with the theology.
Catholic Answers article that addresses C.S. Lewis and other intellectuals that never became Catholic.
Joseph Pearce wrote a book on the topic - speculating as to why he never actually converted.

Well... Matthew Kelly is probably not in the same league as CS Lewis, but he is very passionate about the Catholic Church. I especially enjoy listening to his work on CD- my library has a few of his books. Lighthouse media also has him on Cd.
Definitely not on the same wavelength as CS Lewis, but Kelly is alive and well today and addresses some of the issues we face right now, which is what I appreciate about his work.
His work can also be quite humorous. His litany of "What is wrong in the Church today" is funny and so true (it's his list of why people don't want to go to mass). Kind of like a really funny Fulton Sheen, who liked a good joke himself.
But also very much enjoyed his story of finding his faith as a college student- how he read and reread the Gospels and how his mentor helped him.
Mentor: Matthew, how is daily mass going?
Matthew: It's going well. I'm really glad I'm going.
Mentor: Good, 'cause I've got something else for you....

I think you can go right ahead reading and recommending Lewis.
That said, if you want some other options, you might consider reading Chesterton for classics or some more contemporary writers like Peter Kreeft, Fr. Dwight Longenecker, and Anthony Esolen.

Thank you all for the recommendatons and encouragement.
I will continue on with C.S. Lewis and thoroughly enjoy his writing, such good stuff! I had thought about Chesterton, and have read only a very little of his work. I had also heard a lot about Kreeft, but have not read anything of his yet.
Looks like I have a good start to my 2013 reading list!
