Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I thought I'd just pop in with a qucik thumbs up for the Susan Albert books . I am loving them ! I found her out by ordering her China Bayles Book of Days from the library last yr. under the subject of herbs . I now own my own copy :-)
I then began taking out the China Bayles mystery series . I really like them as well , short , easy , read at bed books . I love all the herbal info and the small towny following lives approach .
I have to say I am absolutely loving now her Beatrix Potter series . I am reading The Tale of Hawthorn House it is just a wonderful read and I love how she involves animals from Ms. Potters books in the mysteries :-)
Just thought if you are like me and can't read those twilight books ( I've seen enough darkeness in the real world never mind fiction ) these books are just wonderful to calm the spirit and have a bit of away time :-)
I do hope you'll give them a try and enjoy these books as I do . Much Love , Roxie

Roxie, are the China Bayle books that same "feel" as the Beatrix Potter books? I loved those, and I have meant to try them! From your description, they sound like nice books to get out around Easter to enjoy in the Spring! (My lenten list is quite full )

Lindsay , I like the China Bayles books very much too mostly because they revolve around herbs and gardening . Titles like lavender lies and an unthymly death etc. I've only read 3 so far plus her day book . However I think I like the Potter mystrey series best because of the period in time . China bayles is set in the here and now , same concept small town but setting is in NA in TX so reference is to that area . The characters are great from kids , middle age to elderly . China bayles runs a herb shop selling fresh and herbal products as well as gardening tips . It is very light , good bedtime reading . Now the one thing that I should have mentioned that you will find in these books that are not in the Potter mysteries is China's best friend and co-owner of the small tea room is Ruby and she runs a new agy store next to the tea room . So it references tarot cards etc. witnin the books when ruby's character is there .
I'm sorry I forgot to mention that . As for some it would bother just as I choose not to read vampire books but these don't upset me as I am a missionary and He has placed me a catholic amongst pagans ;-) so it dosen't bother my reading at all I'm with characters like this in my real life all the time .
If you want to give them a try you could try the An Unthymely Death book as it is a collection of her short stories and very easy read . It was my first book to read after fidning the book of days and I think it is a good option to get a feel for the characters and the writers style etc.
I do hope you give them a try .
