How do you present the resurrection to your children? I am using Moira's albums and I don't see one in there.

We use the book "Benjamin's Box" and the Resurrection Eggs which are mentioned in the book The girls love being able to open the eggs and handle the nails, the whip, the rock, etc.
I can't help wanting to write a Catholic version of this book, it's good, but it could be better.
What do you think?

I would also be interested in other presentations for the Resurrection - right now, I've got the Empty Tomb, and we discuss the fact of the Resurrection during other presentations. Outside of atrium/CGS, we read books/stories - but my (will be 3 in 2 weeks) son is SO stuck on "Jesus died, Mommy - nails" (as he points to the nails on the crucifix).... perhaps weekly Stations of the Cross (even outside of Lent) is not such a good idea? But we always end it with an Easter/Resurrection story...

Cheryl,
I have presentations from Our Father's House found on this page:
Holy Week Presentations
(Scroll down to find them)
I assume these presentations are written by Moira Farrell?? But they are not her albums.
Anyways....I am LOVING the ideas in them. She has a script and activities for all the days of Holy Week. She intends for you to make jig-saw wood figures (about 60), but you can also photocopy her figures on cardstock. I decided on clothespin characters.
But to quickly describe her plans for the Resurrection:
She has you make a tomb and make a Crucified Christ to bury in the tomb and a Resurrected Christ to rise from tomb in the next presentation. You also need an angel, guards, Mary Magdalen, Mary and Salome.
In her script she explains the action of the resurrection and has you shake the tomb as the angel of the Lord descends from heaven. The angel rolls back the stone, the guards fall in fright. Then Jesus comes out. He's moved aside so that when the women of Jerusalem come, they do not see Him, but just the angel who tells them to go tell the Good News to the Apostles.
I definitely recommend getting these $8 plans -- even just for the scripts of the events of the week!! They've been MOST of the food for thought for the Holy Week project that I've been working on with my boys. We're trying to make everything in her plans -- but we may just make the essentials and keep building on them each year.
If you're interested I'm posting some of my rough pictures on homeschooling journal blog:
Our Daily Life and Work
Look under "Holy Week" project. Although as I said -- it's in the rough, we're just doing what we can -- we plan to build on this for next year.
And sorry this is late to pass this on -- I didn't see you ask this is in February.

Maryan, I just received my Holy Week Presentations today. I'm going to try to make the paper figures this year, but I'm just in awe of your Holy Week work!

Oh Jenn -- I'm so glad you got them!! I just love having a compiled script for the kids! I hope you love her plans as much as I do!
And thanks, you flatter me! But truthfully, these plans really set you in motion! You will have a field day with them!

We are using the script from the "Holy Week Figures" from OFH also, like Maryan. We have a tomb, 2 angels, Jesus, 2 Marys, cloth he was wrapped in, Rock. The figures are the clothespin dolls.
We just finished our Last Supper clothespin doll-apostles yesterday. They are so cute! (even tho I know apostles aren't really supposed to be cute ).
Jenn: How are you doing your paper figures? DH and I were talking about these maybe for next year.

There are instructions to make them in the packet. Basically it will be glorified paper dolls. I thought I would scan them, photocopy them onto cardstock, color and maybe laminate before cutting out, and make stands for them. I was hoping I could do that in a smaller amount of time, but I'm not so sure. Today I'm in a panic because I have no Easter outfit for my son...so it's errand day. Yuck.

I think we'll do a pretty heavy cardstock and not do the laminating. That's a lot of laminating. Then every year we can color a few more.

I think I will, too....mostly because some of the figures might not be colored for Holy Week, and I can't add one more thing to the budget or errands.
