As I watch the Super Bowl, I've been searching thru past posts looking for ideas on the Ark of Covenant and the ancient tabernacle.
Since this has so much symbolism etc. to our church/tabernacle, etc. today, I was thinking I wanted to make something visual to bring the point home. (And to have fun painting etc.)
I've been searching thru some Bible school type sites and have seen sketchy ideas of trying to make the ancient tabernacle.
Has anybody done this? Other ideas?
Thanks!

Theresa -
Thank you for helping us in our Ark of the Covenant project! While we plan to revisit this project every year, we're done for now!! I just wanted to share some of the photos...(you can see more if you click on the "Ark of the Covenant" category as well.)
My boys are little, so I was pleased that they enjoyed painting part of the ark everyday. As you can see, there are some items missing that we hope to implement next year! But since Lent is just about here, we're leaving this to move on to seasonal projects!
Thanks again Theresa -- we had a blast!

Oh ladies -- thanks for visiting!
We really enjoyed this project. I'm still amazed that God gave the Israelites such specific instructions on how to treat holy objects -- even while they were in the desert. There's definitely a message there that is good for reflection!

Bump - it's been seven years since we did this project! The boys and I are studying the Old Testament again and pulled out this project that we made from 7 years ago, but also ordered another 3-D puzzle from christianbook.com to supplement it. It was a little tricky to assemble, but I had several helpers and shish-kabob skewers to poke out the small parts which made the process go faster.
I didn't take a picture of our finished product because it looks just like the picture. But for $12 I thought it was decent!
Just throwing that out there for anyone else who is interested in the Ark of the Covenant/Tablernacle.
