We made something very similar to this one year, only we just gave the children a baggie full of the shredded paper. Then as each child made a sacrifice or did something extra nice for someone, they added a piece of "straw" to the manger to make it more comfortable for the baby Jesus.

I love stuff like this!

Aren't those precious? I'm going to make them with my dc during the 12 days of Christmas and hang them on our tree. Alice, you're the best!
