Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am getting an early start on planning this year. We did Elizabeth's unit from Real Learning last year - and will do some of this again. We are doing Catholic Mosaic. We are also doing Moira's CGS manual (6-9) this year - and will tie in some of the CGS presentations with our usual Advent Wreath/Jesse tree/O Antiphons and other traditional family activities.

The kids like to spend Advent making gifts - does anyone have any recommendations for websites/ books/craft kits/ideas for kids from 2-10 - and a mom who likes fairly simple crafts!!!

I would love to hear your plans/ideas. (or any prior threads - I have had trouble accessing the archives)

Marilyn

We made a paper chain using green and red paper.

We put a name on each slip of paper. We made a loop for each day of Advent. We then ripped open one loop each day and prayed for that person.

We're making a Jesee tree from Illuminated Ink and I also bought the O Antiphon Christmas Card Kit. I need easy this year - Advent promises to be kind of busy here.

God bless,

Michele,
Is the O Antiphon Christmas Card Kit also available from Illuminated Ink? I couldn't find it?

Hi Marilyn,
Faith and Family Magazine just did a spread on a kids Christmas craft party it was simple and nice. I always have BIG plans every year that normally go no where .
This year with the new baby I have made the commitment to get homemade gifts done! It will really help to keep my other dc busy .
We checked craft books out of the library and with the dc's help (and moms veto power) we made a list of do-able crafts. We photo copied the instructions and with in the next week or so I will buy the supplies and put them into gallon sized ziploc bags with the instructions.
My hope is that I can sit back and nurse a baby while the children craft- and if they can give away their creations.... so much the better

God Bless,
Alison

I purchased St. Nicholas ornaments to make with the kids from the St Nicholas Center.

We are planning to go to a local convent nursing home on the feast of St. Nicholas to share them with the sisters.
