Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hopefully, it isn't challenging at all.

Name 3 things about your parish that you enjoy.

Wish ours was that easy!

But actually I do enjoy
- the wonderful homeschooling families we have met
- the positive comments we have received about big families compared to what we normally receive in public
- the great homilies (in fact, our parish recently started recording and putting his sermons online which is great if we are out of town and miss his homily or if I am distracted by a little one [which is almost every mass:)] and want to rehear something he said

Our holy priests
Our adoration chapel being built
Our religious education program which is called Family Faith Formation

We are so blessed by our parish. What a wonderful gift from Our Lord to us. We had no idea when we moved into the area what awaited us. Praise God!!!

1. The statue of Our Lady outside and how Dd always places a hibiscus blossom in Her Hands after Mass.
2. The tour of trees outside (#29 is a gumbo limbo, #3 is a sabal palm type of thing)
3. I found out Sunday that we have a relic buried under the altar, but I don't know what it is yet. I'm intrigued.

The parishoners, everyone of them.
Our hard-working Polish priests.

Our wonderful priest who, his first day here:
1. reestablished daily mass
2. started hearing confession after every daily mass and on Saturdays
3. established weekly Adoration with a special invitation to teens to paritcipate.

Our wonderful priests - they are making postive changes all the time - and stretched very thin. We often run into them in the adoration chapel or making stations.

2 associate pastors that we have had that spend time (and come early or come back after Mass to hear confessions) and really question and counsel in confession.

Our adoration chapel

The homeschooling families we've met and the positive responses/encouragement we've received from people who love to see our children.

Confession before every Sunday Mass (although I don't make it nearly enough)

A lot of bigger families, many who homeschool (I got tired of feeling like a side show at our old parish--and we only had 3-4 children!)

Very reverent Mass....I love the Latin Masses held 2 Sundays a month (I've learned a lot just reading the English translations....sooooo beautiful!)

1. The fact that everybody sings loudly enough so that I am not embarrassed to (since I am about the worst singer on the planet.... )

2. Our Adoration chapel & Mary Garden

3. Our tabernacle being put front & center and the new big crucifix!

Asked dh and he said:

1. All the services we have (employment ministry, counseling center, huge lending library, food pantry, medical item closet, etc...)

2. how well attended the masses are and that most people seem to really want to be there.

3. Fr. Oliver & Fr. Jerry!

1. Two daily Mass times available, confession available every night (20 min.) before Mass and every Saturday for two hours, Perpetual Adoration, and weekly Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament

2. This is the parish in which I first confessed, first received Holy Communion and first fell truly, madly, deeply in love with the Catholic faith.

3. This is the parish in which my husband later had
his first confession,
hisfirst Holy Communion, and in which we felt we were being remarried when I sponsored him and he entered the Church.

Sigh. Such lovely memories.

1. People in our parish actually prayed for us to be stationed here again so we could come back.

2. Our music group, which is full of talent but entirely lacking an egotistical, "performance" attitude.

3. Our deacons...one sold his home and gave the proceeds to a town in Mexico; he leads missions to help the town each year...one started a weeknight Adoration hour...one works with the homeless in Baltimore...and their lovely wives, who are true helpmeets in their ministries.

4. (I'm cheating) Our pastor, who is not afraid to stand up and say that some of the Church's teachings are hard to understand and/or follow...but we must follow them anyway and trust that God will help us to understand.

Our Pastor's amazing homilies.
The beautiful architecture.
The Real Presence of Jesus Christ. (Hey, I'm a convert, it still amazes me that I can go "visit" Jesus and he's really WITH ME THERE: body, blood, soul and divinity!)

Only 3? That will be hard!

Our very devout priest (at the Consecration, he emphasizes the "is" in "this is My Body/Blood

The tabernacle (it's gilded in gold, as befitting the King of Kings) directly behind the altar-no searching for it unlike our cathedral!!

The feeling I get there--hard to explain, just feels like a very holy place (maybe because it looks that way.)

1. Our wonderful priest

2. The statue of Mary outside that ds says "hi" to before Mass, and prays in front of afterward

3. The beautiful architecture and wood carvings

And Jennifer, I just learned from a priest that ALL altars had relics in them until relatively recently, beginning with ancient times when Mass was said in the catacombs over the bodies of the martyrs. He was not sure if EVERY altar has a relic, but he said most should.

1. Monday night Rosary during the year except during May and October, daily Rosary.

2. Our DRE, she allows our Home School Group to participate in the Parish First Holy Communion and basically lets us use what books we want.

3. Deacon Gary and Jeanne.

4. The Quilt ministry, they provide prayer quilts to the sick in the Parish.
