Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

There was a thread recently where the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd was mentioned and Moira's albums. I know of CGS as there are classes in my home city but they are too far away to attend, so I've sighed and said, "can't do it, what a shame." But now I sense that this is something that can be done at home! This is exciting! So I've just visted Elizabeth's blog and there it is again - with a link (I love links!)

So I would love to know more - what you would need to do this well, what you have experienced with your children, anything that would be good to know - do you use the albums by themselves, do you buy or make all/some of the manipulatives, is it very expensive - how often do you use it - what about the older ones who have not experienced it all - would you go back to the beginning with them - questions, questions, questions!

I was looking at Elizabeth's link and saw the Mass set, does everyone buy something like that? - I think what I am trying to say - are these extra things manditory with the program?

Thank you in advance for any helpful advice - what a year for learning it has been!!!

Anne, I am just beginning to research CGS and the materials so Elizabeth and others will have much more to offer but I did want to say that many of the items, like the chalice and paten, etc do not need to be purchased in set form. We found a lovely silver chalice at a garage sale that only needs some polishing. It will be used for the altarwork.

Alice had some wonderful suggestions on making your own altar set but I cannot find it in the archives. I will do some more searching...
