Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have bold highlight on the items you'll need to get ready for the new Liturgical Year which begins Dec. 3, 2006 (First Sunday of Advent).

Catholic Mosaic

Catholic Mosaic can be ordered from Hillside Education.

If you just want to focus on the literature, you can wait to order Moria's albums: Home Catechesis Albums.

Also, the Catholic Mosaic booklist is available at Hillside Education's website.

Books

Begin to look for the books for December. Don't worry about not being able to locate (or afford) all of them. The ones you don't get to this year can be saved for next year. Don't sweat the small stuff (or the expense). Enjoy what you have on your shelf and plan to order the January books as your children's gift from St. Nicholas.

Altar

Find an altar for your children to use. Ours is shown here. It's a simple white two-tiered shelf from Wal-Mart. Cost around $8 or so. There is a shelf under the cloth to store our books for the month and the albums.

If funds are not readily available at this time and you cannot order the Home Catechesis Albums, you may go to:
the Montessori forum here or come to the Catholic Mosaic forum here to ask questions and pick-up suggestions.

Altar Cloth
You'll need the colored altar cloths for your altar. There are some lovely ones at
Catholic Montessori but they're kind of pricy. I bought mine from Our Father's House for $14

I do think the altar cloth is absolutely necessary even if you have to just purchase a piece of felt or linen to place on your altar. This is the best way for the child to see the change of colors in the Catholic year. You'll need white, red, green, and purple.

Crucifix and picture
The picture can be as simple as a holy card put in a pretty frame.

I posted about some of the December books (and others) available at deep discounts in this thread. I hope it helps someone.

Cay,
Thanks -- it's so helpful to know that the booklist is available, and to know what we're looking at, budgetarily speaking.

I'm just beginning to look ahead to next year, to budgets, etc. So, thanks for this sneak preview!
