Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

After returning from a conference and just seeing a plethora of beautiful books, I had a few ideas running in my head that I want to put down before I forget!

I know I'm the queen of Out-of-print books. I love OOP books. And if not OOP, at least used...I don't like paying full price for brand new books. Many times I get ideas for new books at the local book stores and then search for used copies.

With that in mind, I don't think it's so terrible to list some books that are OOP. I know some titles are harder to find than others. I just think there are so many nice ones that should be mentioned and included in case someone can find them. And with the Internet with ebay, bookfinder.com, and Amazon...it's easier to find copies. Perhaps not a whole study, but definitely list more of them.

The joy of finding a title is one that everyone should experience at least once in their lives. Today I bought a used copy of The Legend of Old Befana by Tomie de Paola for less than $5. I'm so excited.

As an aside, I had picked up at a used book store this Christmas, Baboushka and the Three Kings by Ruth Robbins, Illustrated by Nicolas Sidjakov, Caldecott for 1961. I saw a few for sale at the Conference, and I see on Amazon that it is back in print. That was a book I was going to suggest for Epiphany.

Another idea for Volume II is to have books that work in the readings for the Liturgical Year. For the first reading, there are Years I and II and the Lectionary for Sundays goes through A, B, and C cycles. Like other have mentioned, there are many good Old Testament stories, and these DO fit within the Liturgical Year... There's the sanctoral and temporal cycles, and Volume II could integrate the temporal cycle.

AND, how about books that present psalms and prayers that are used in the Responsorial Psalm and the Liturgy of the Hours? The Liturgy of the Hours is another part of our Liturgy that reflects the rhthyms of the Liturgical Year....

Just a few ramblings...
