Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Now that the Year of Mercy has official begun, I have started this thread so that we could make it a resource thread for the whole year - similar to the ones we have done with past years (Year of Faith, Year for Priests). I'm really excited about all the possibilities for making this a memorable and holy year. I am already seeing lots of great articles, ideas, and recourses spring up. So please add your findings, deas, thoughts, resources, activities.

Post as you have ideas or post what you do throughout the year (with pics if you have them).

Misericordiae Vultus - Bull of Indiction of the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy

Explanation of logo

Pope Francis' Prayer for Year of Mercy: Lord Jesus Christ, you have taught us to be merciful like the heavenly Father, and have told us that whoever sees you sees Him. Show us your face and we will be saved. Your loving gaze freed Zacchaeus and Matthew from being enslaved by money; the adulteress and Magdalene from seeking happiness only in created things; made Peter weep after his betrayal, and assured Paradise to the repentant thief.

Let us hear, as if addressed to each one of us, the words that you spoke to the Samaritan woman: “If you knew the gift of God!” You are the visible face of the invisible Father, of the God who manifests his power above all by forgiveness and mercy: let the Church be your visible face in the world, its Lord risen and glorified. You willed that your ministers would also be clothed in weakness in order that they may feel compassion for those in ignorance and error: let everyone who approaches them feel sought after, loved, and forgiven by God. Send your Spirit and consecrate every one of us with its anointing, so that the Jubilee of Mercy may be a year of grace from the Lord, and your Church, with renewed enthusiasm, may bring good news to the poor, proclaim liberty to captives and the oppressed, and restore sight to the blind. We ask this through the intercession of Mary, Mother of Mercy, you who live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit for ever and ever.
~Amen.

I have a question... I thought a "jubilee year" was in reference to a certain number of years.. like an anniversary. Or at least that seemed to be the way I've seen it used.. so if less than 10 yrs ago was a jubilee year.. how do we have another jubilee year?

I think in this case it doesn't mean number, but the type of attitude in the year. The last one was 2000 (see list of years.
