Ladies-
Can you give me your top web sites for ordering Catholic cds and for listening to Catholic pod casts? Also any blogs you really like.
I have a niece and nephew going through RCIA as adults (children of my oldest sister) who are just turning their lives around and inhaling the Catholic faith.
My nephew has already listened to many of the LightHouse cds and has asked me for recommendations for more.
I am bringing this question here. They are in their early 30's and just so excited about the Catholic faith. Today is the first time they are celebrating St. Nicholas Day with their kids- I got a funny SOS yesterday about where to put out the shoes... front porch? fire place? outside the bedroom?
If you have suggestions for cds for a young couple with five children going through RCIA, please let me know!

Melinda,
I have recommended the Institute of Catholic Culture before on 4Real, but I will do it again! Here is the link to their website!
I listen to a talk or two each week. All of them are awesome. Here is a excerpt to their mission statement. For me it's a great way to grow in my faith without having to leave my home and on my time. I believe you can download the older talks (list of all of the talks here) and listen on an mp3 player, I usually just use my computer.
Quote:
The Institute of Catholic Culture is an adult catechetical organization, faithful to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church, and dedicated to the Church’s call for a new evangelization. The Institute seeks to fulfill its mission by offering education programs structured upon the classical liberal arts and by offering opportunities in which authentic Catholic culture is experienced and lived. |

It would be for their kids but something they could listen to with everyone that's fun is the CAT Chat cds.. you can find them on amazon or they have a website.
And EWTN has a bunch of stuff online but I don't know if it's "podcasts" or what.

Thanks, ladies! I know that there must be a thread around here some where with similar info, but I haven't been able to find it through a search.
I must be using the wrong search words

Melinda,
There are 3 podcasts I listen to regularly:
USCCB Daily Mass readings
The Lanky Guys' Word on the Hill which goes over the upcoming Sunday Mass readings. They are a little goofy at times, but it's "hip" and fun and yet meaty.
Catholic Stuff You Should Know is another one from Colorado. Cool and hip, but great discussions.
Another podcast is from Divine Office. You can pray along to the Divine Office by podcast or buy the app. The newly remade app is on sale for $14.99 for two more days, and then it's back to $25.

If they like Lighthouse they may like this website http://www.salvationhistory.com. There's a lot of stuff from weekly reflections on the Sunday readings to online bible courses.
For the family I agree with the recommendation of the Cat Chat CDs and the Catholic Culture website is a good starting place for liturgical year celebrations.
A very good book for starting to live life as a Catholic family is Nazareth Family Spirituality: Celebrating Your Faith At Home with Catherine Doherty (which btw discusses St. Nick's Day ).

Fr. Michael Schmitz's podcasts on iTunes would be fabulous for young people (and also those not-so-young like me!). He is energetic and funny and a joy to listen to.
He is a youth director in the Duluth, MN diocese, I believe, and is involved in the university there.
