I am trying to think of a good book that I can give to each of my sisters in law - each year I give each of them a small gift. I have given them Donna Marie Cooper O'Boyle's Prayer Book For Mothers, and various other books.
Some background - all of them go to Mass each week, but are more "progressive", feminist, pro-choice etc and I so want to find them a book that will help them learn the beautiful teachings of the church with respect to women, marriage, life etc.
The only thing I can thing of (which I have not yet read) is Extreme Makeover by Teresa Tomeo.
Please share any ideas..

I enjoyed reading "My Sisters, the Saints".

Came back to say.. if I remember right.. it may be able to address some of those issues (like pro-life, no artificial birth control) as part of the overall story of the Hahn's conversion. So you're more likely to have them actually read and process the info instead of just skipping over it. Stories can be so non-threatening and yet still so convincing.

I was thinking that the Endow website would be a good place to get book recommendations, since their mission is "transforming the hearts and minds of women and girls by inviting them into the joy, freedom, and dignity that come from living out their gift of authentic femininity in Christ."

My first recommendation was also going to be “My Sisters, the Saints”. However, if you think that is not quite the fit you are looking for, then I would like to recommend Something Other Than God
This is a powerful conversion story that specifically takes up the feminism, abortion and contraception issues, but with compassion and first-hand experience.

Thank you - I have not read this, but it looks really good. I think I will definitely give it to my sister and maybe my sisters in law.

Diana - I just thought of something. I have not read the book. But please would you confirm that it is not written in a sarcastic/ironic/ so called "witty" style.
Thanks.

I guess I'm not the only one who doesn't enjoy that.
I thought Fulwiler's book was excellent, and my mother loved it, too. Her blog sometimes has that type of writing, but her book did not at all.
